Where we share our thoughts
If you’re searching for a recording studio, you’re likely preparing to release new music, record a podcast, or finally experience a professional studio environment for the first time.
While the idea of booking a session is exciting, many artists aren’t sure what actually happens once they step inside the studio.
At Evermore Sound Studio located in Downtown Orlando, we work with artists from across the world.
Whether you’re brand new to recording or already experienced, knowing what to expect helps you walk in confident and ready.
The quality of your session starts before you even arrive.
Proper preparation ensures your time is used efficiently and your performance is strong from the first take.
If you’re recording vocals, make sure to:
- Bring your instrumental in WAV format (not MP3)
WAV files maintain full audio quality. Compressed formats can limit mixing flexibility and reduce the overall sound quality of your final track.
- Label your files clearly
If you’re bringing multiple versions, edits, or references, organized file names save time during setup.
- Practice your lyrics thoroughly
Studio time is valuable. Being confident in your words allows you to focus on delivery, emotion, and tone instead of remembering lines.
- Know your song structure
Understand where verses, hooks, bridges, and ad-libs fall so transitions are smooth during recording.
- Rest your voice the day before
Avoid yelling, excessive talking, or strain. Vocal fatigue can impact clarity and stamina.
- Stay hydrated (water only)
Hydration keeps your vocals consistent and prevents dryness during longer sessions.
- Avoid dairy or heavy foods before recording
These can affect vocal clarity and breathing control.
- Arrive 5-10 minutes early
Downtown Orlando traffic, especially near I-4 or during Lake Eola events, can cause delays. Arriving early ensures you receive your full booked time.
Professional recording studios operate on scheduled blocks. Being prepared allows your session to stay focused and productive.
The first 10–15 minutes of your session are about setup and comfort. We want you relaxed and ready before recording begins.
When you walk into Evermore Sound Studio, we will:
- Discuss your goals for the session
- Review the project timeline
- Load your instrumental into the system
- Select the microphone that best fits your voice
- Adjust mic placement for tone and clarity
- Set headphone levels for comfort
- Conduct a sound check
- Record quick test takes to finalize levels
This setup stage is critical. Proper microphone positioning and headphone balance directly affect how you perform. Once everything feels right, creativity flows naturally.
For many first-time artists, this is when nerves disappear and confidence builds.
A structured approach ensures high-quality results while keeping the session organized.
During a typical Evermore Sound Studio session, we move through the following stages:
- Test Takes
Short practice recordings help lock in levels and allow you to get comfortable behind the mic.
- Full Main Takes
You’ll record complete versions of your song. We capture multiple takes to ensure flexibility during editing.
- Possibly Comping the Best Parts
The strongest sections from each take are combined into one polished lead vocal.
- Punch-Ins for Precision
If a line needs improvement, we re-record specific words or phrases seamlessly.
- Vocal Layering
Doubles, harmonies, and background vocals add depth and dimension.
- Ad-Libs and Energy Enhancements
Particularly common in hip-hop, R&B, and pop, ad-libs add personality and movement.
- Playback and Creative Adjustments
We listen back together to refine delivery and performance.
- Final File Prep & Export
At the end of the session, your engineer will clean up the session, organize and label tracks, and export the final audio files as needed for mixing or mastering. This step ensures everything is properly prepared for the next stage of production. Please note that this is part of your booked session time, so be sure to allow time at the end for proper file preparation and delivery.
The engineer manages the technical side so you can focus entirely on performance and emotion.
Choosing the right session length is essential when booking a recording studio in Orlando.
Here’s a realistic guideline:
Small session (2 to 3 Hours)
This is ideal for recording one fully produced single with proper vocal layering, punch-ins, ad-libs, and creative adjustments.
It gives enough time for multiple takes, refining details, and ensuring you leave with strong raw vocal recording. Most artists find this to be the perfect balance between efficiency and creativity.
Half-Day Session (4 Hours)
A great option for artists working on multiple songs, detailed vocal production, or collaborative sessions
This allows time to experiment creatively, record harmonies, and work without watching the clock.
It’s especially useful for EP projects or artists developing a cohesive sound.
Full-Day Session (8 Hours)
Recommended for album sessions, multiple collaborations, or high-volume recording days.
Full-day bookings provide maximum flexibility and are ideal for artists who want to capture several tracks in one focused session.
Booking enough time is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. Rushing a session can affect performance quality and creative flow.
Starting with a 2-hour minimum ensures your recording session feels professional, productive, and stress-free
Many new artists underestimate how long recording takes. Booking enough time ensures you don’t feel rushed and allows space for creativity.
Once vocals are recorded, vocal tuning may be needed before mixing begins. We’ll typically discuss this with you during or immediately after the session. Please note that tuning and detailed vocal editing are billed hourly and are not included in the standard mixing and mastering service.
The mixing is where your track transforms into a professional, release-ready record.
You can expect:
- EQ and compression for clarity
- Balancing vocals with the instrumental
- Reverb and effects placement
- Stereo imaging adjustments
Final polish and mastering preparation, you will typically receive:
- A final polished mix
- WAV and MP3 versions
- Optional stems upon request
Professional studios ensure your final product is ready for Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, radio, or streaming platforms.
Understanding studio etiquette helps your session stay productive and professional.
Keep these guidelines in mind:
- Limit the number of guests (usually 2) you bring
- Avoid distractions during takes
- Silence phones during recording
- Respect your scheduled time
- Communicate clearly with the engineer
- Be open to professional feedback
- Maintain a positive and focused attitude
Professional recording studios often run tight schedules. Respecting time ensures you get the most value from your investment.
